In a recent meeting, the Business Correspondent Resource Council (BCRC) requested the RBI to create a special equity fund for BC agents, similar to the Microfinance Equity Fund. They also asked for support from existing funds to help agents afford essential digital tools like micro-ATMs, biometric devices, and cash machines.
BCRC highlighted that high equipment costs (₹1–1.5 lakh per agent annually) are affecting sustainability. With proper support, the BC network can create lakhs of job opportunities, especially for rural youth and women, while improving access to banking and financial services across India.
